Boxing

What is Boxing?

Western Boxing, known around the world as “traditional” boxing, is a combat sport where opponents may make contact using only their hands (fists), typically with padded gloves. Colin’s Boxing Club is located inside KruFit and is perfect for Boxers of all levels.

Colin’s Boxing Club Class Descriptions

All Levels Boxing

Our main boxing class is perfect for those looking to sharpen their boxing skills as well as those looking to try their first class. This class focuses on the mastery of Boxing fundamentals and power-building cardio through fast-paced rounds. We have a great mix of new faces all the way up to competition-level fighters. The most important thing to remember: everyone has been a beginner throwing their first punch. Everyone Boxer starts their journey somewhere — this class is your beginning!

Competition Boxing

Competition Boxing is for those that wish to either compete or take their boxing to the next level. Therefore, this class puts a higher focus on sparring. While we currently only offer one competition-level class, competition-level boxers may be required to travel to partner gyms for extra sparring and training time. This class is not open to beginners. If you are considering making the jump to the competition group, please check in with Head Boxing Coach Colin Herschel to see if you are ready.

Meet Your Boxing Head Coach

Colin Herschel

Hi, I’m Colin Herschel, but you can call me Coach C around the gym! I started my Boxing career as an avid fan turned amateur boxer — fighting both affiliated with a gym and as an unaffiliated athlete.

After sustaining an injury my career was cut short and I fine-tuned my focus on teaching and working as a Boxing coach. I fell in love with the sport and am obsessed with helping people spark their inner fire through combat.

What separates me from other Boxing coaches is my innate desire to protect my athletes as while simultaneously unlocking their potential through sport. I have more than a decade of experience in nutrition and well-being as well as studying under some amazing athletes and coaches.

In my fitness journey, I’ve had an on-and-off relationship with nutrition. I have maintained several physiques, ranging in the hundreds of pounds of difference, and know that not any one of us is built the same or has the same metabolism as any other.

We’re all unique and each individual requires specific diets and exercises that make sense and work for us. With that being said — I don’t believe in easy roads. I will always give my athletes everything I have in the tank and always expect them to give 100% effort.

It’s my job as a coach to bring out the absolute best of each of my athlete’s abilities and push them to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. I believe we have something special in the works at KruFit here in Fishers and hope that reading this makes you feel inspired to give Boxing a shot.

Can’t wait to see you in class!

Why Train Boxing?

While Boxing may sound like it’s part of a bygone era to some, it is still an extremely profound and popular sport in America and has seen quite a bit of growth with athletes training and competing for the pride of their nation all around the world.

Because Boxing generally sticks to a guideline of universal rules, it’s relatively simple to comprehend but gets more complex the deeper you go. At higher levels, it (like many combat sports) becomes extremely difficult yet rewarding to master. Whether you want to learn a new skill or are just looking for a fun way to get your fitness in check — Boxing is the answer.

Combat sports inherently offer intense cardio and strength-building workouts like no other. Boxing is an extremely rewarding, fun, and purpose-driven way to exercise and build long-lasting discipline.

Our Boxing team is extremely warm and welcoming and helps motivate new athletes to greater heights. If you aren’t seeing results in your current routines, are looking for something new to master, or even have tons of combat experience and need to hone your craft — Boxing is for you.
